Farm House, SOMD House, and life in general

Ahhhhh......

With all the drama lately, I'm exhausted mentally, physically, and emotionally. Thanks to quick thinking and helpful people we are all set to close on both properties...the farm house this week and the MD house next week. We will be a family, in our new house in MD next week. We pack up the UHaul this Saturday and hit the road on Sunday. Here's a few pics of what the Farm house looks like as of right now. Black tin roof, and gray siding. We were going to do a sage green, so I glad that Skye's sister and her husband have changed things to make it more their own. Maybe when it's all said and done it won't hurt so much! :(

Kids are thriving and surviving through all the drama and moving and craziness. They are good kids who have learned the art of flexibility and adaptability. I think they are amazing for what they have gone through. I pray God protects their hearts from all the moving.

Skye is gone this week, he's in MD working while we're here. I thank God for technology and the ability to see his face even though we are 500 miles apart. I love him so much, and am so blessed to be married to a hard working, honest, loving, trustworthy, faithful husband! Our 11 year anniversary is right around the corner, and we'll actually be together this year!! :)

Veterans Day

It's so hard for us to think anything negative about our life in the military. We LOVED being part of the military, we LOVE supporting the military today. We wish we never left the military. The USAF was so good to us, and so good for Skye, and me individually. We've met life long friends, and family via the Air Force!

Today being veterans day, it bring up so much pride. Not only for what Skye has done, and accomplished, but how our family is so woven into the military. My dad, grandpa, uncles, and Skye's entire side of his family, practically. It's so great, so wonderful to know that we've come from a family who has set aside their wants, needs for the betterment of the country. I am PROUD!

I know veteran's day is to Honor ALL vets, but I can't help but think of ONE very special veteran. His name is Nick. He was a great friend of our when we lived in TX. We grew close to him and his wonderful wife Leigh. They are so dear to us...so dear! We were blessed to meet them, to grow close to them, and we honor Nick, when he passed away.

Nick's Plane crashed off the Carolina Coast in October of 2009. It was a long 3 days of prayer, but Nick's plane was recovered, and he did no make the crash. He was laid to rest in Arlington in December. He was an amazing man. His smile is totally contagious, his genuine, and sweet, and funny. We miss him!! :)

About 2 more weeks.

We are all out of the "Little house" and packed away in the barn ready to load up to the UHaul that we have scheduled. We are All to familiar with this process. I went to a store the other day and went speaking to someone and I said "Oh we're moving to MD soon" and the man seemed surprised. The kids then said "Oh this like our 3rd or 4th move there, nothing new". I was surprised by their candid-ness about the situation. So glad they are just fine with the process.

We sold the house and 2 acres to Skye's sister. Although this is EXACTLY what we had hoped, we didn't (or I didn't) realize just how much it would hurt. I am happy to see them be so joyful over their new life, taking over ours caught me by surprise. I haven't been back inside the house, and don't plan on it until it's finished so that I can walk into "their" house, and not see "our" house. This way, it's nothing buy JOY for them.

Working on a house in MD. We're in contract on one in a neighborhood across the street from our old one. Its a new house and it'll need a few things like, fence, painting, ceiling fans, garage door openers, and such. I think after physically building a house we're up for minor stuff like this. I'm excited to get into it. It's been almost a year living in other people's homes or transition houses. The kids are so excited to have their own rooms and get settled in. At first the idea of moving did not set well with them, but after our trip there, I think they are a bit more excited about it then we are!

While out at the farm on the last day (other than the day we move out of the barn) I took a picture of the sky. It's been my awe of God seeing the sunsets out there. I remember one day a few years ago in our church in TX the worship leader sang "Praise you in the storm" by Casting Crowns. I loved the song but it never hit me like it did that day as he said he the people in the front row had just lost a child, and they were singing the lyrics: "I'll praise the God who gives, and takes away." These words are so true. God gives us season in our lives for growth, understanding, and knowledge. We, Skye and I, fully believe this was the same kind of season. We are excited to see what God has for us in MD, why is it so important to be there, what do we need to learn, and experience, and see. I'm so excited to continue to grow in Christ, I'm so excited to draw closer to Him.
